A Compassionate Approach to Estate Clean Outs
Your Loved One's Belongings Aren't Junk—And We Won't Treat Them That Way

Clearing out a home after a loved one passes—or helping them downsize after decades in the same space—is one of the hardest things you'll ever do. Every drawer you open holds a memory. Every closet tells a story. And the last thing you need is someone rushing through, tossing things into a dumpster like none of it mattered.
We get it. With 20 years of experience as a CNA working in memory care, hospice, and veteran facilities, I've walked alongside families during some of life's most difficult transitions. That's why we do estate clean outs differently at S.B. Taylor Moving.
Junk Is the Absolute Last Place Things Go
When we help with an estate clean out, our goal is simple: honor what's there. We work with you to sort through belongings thoughtfully, not hurriedly. And we exhaust every option before anything goes to the dump.
That antique dresser your grandmother refinished herself? We'll find it a home. The medical equipment that helped your dad through his final years? Someone else needs it. The books, the dishes, the furniture that still has life left in it? There's a family out there who would be grateful to have it.
Where Your Belongings Can Go Instead
We've built relationships with nonprofits throughout Southern Maine who do incredible work getting furniture and household items to families in need. Our top choice for furniture donations is Furniture Friends—a local organization that provides furniture to people transitioning out of homelessness, domestic violence situations, and other difficult circumstances. Your loved one's couch could become someone's fresh start.
We also coordinate donations with Habitat for Humanity ReStore and Salvation Army, depending on what items need new homes. Different organizations accept different things, and we know who takes what—so you don't have to figure it out while you're grieving.
Deliveries to Family, Near and Far
Maybe your sister in New Hampshire wants Mom's china cabinet. Maybe your nephew in Florida has always loved that rocking chair. We can make that happen. As a federally licensed moving company, we handle local deliveries and long-distance moves alike. We'll get those meaningful pieces to the family members who want them, wherever they are.
We've delivered heirloom furniture across state lines, dropped off boxes of photo albums to siblings scattered across New England, and transported treasured pieces to family members who couldn't be there for the clean out. These items carry stories—and those stories deserve to continue.
We Work for You
Here's what makes us different: we're not a junk removal company that happens to donate a few things. We're caregivers who happen to move furniture. Our job is to serve you—to make this process as gentle as possible during an incredibly difficult time.
That means we move at your pace. We let you tell us the stories behind things if you need to. We help you decide what goes where without rushing or judgment. And we handle everything with the respect it deserves—because to us, it's never just "stuff."
A Word If You're Going Through This
If you're facing an estate clean-out—whether for a parent who's passed, a loved one moving to assisted living, or your own downsizing journey—please know you have options. You don't have to watch a lifetime of belongings get thrown into a dumpster. You don't have to do this alone. And you don't have to feel guilty about needing help.
We've sat with families in these moments. We understand. And we're here when you're ready.
S.B. Taylor Moving serves York and Cumberland counties with compassionate moving services for families, seniors, and anyone going through life's big transitions. We're women-owned, federally licensed (USDOT #3771801), and we're caregivers who happen to move furniture.
