Senior Moving Services in Southern Maine — Caregiving Meets Moving
There's nothing I love more than helping people. Caregiving is in my DNA.
I grew up very close to my great-grandmother and my grandparents. Watching them age, being there for them — it shaped who I am. Right out of high school, I went straight into healthcare. I became a PSS, then quickly a CRMA, then a CNA. I went back for my Medical Assistant certification. I even started nursing school before eventually shifting to healthcare documentation.
Then I met Steven, and my career path changed completely. But here's the thing — I couldn't stop being a caregiver. It's not something I do; it's who I am. So when we started S.B. Taylor Moving, I found a way to bring that part of me into the business.
Because the moving industry is completely lacking this. Completely. Most movers see boxes and furniture. I see people going through one of the hardest transitions of their lives. And after 20 years in healthcare — caring for veterans, hospice patients, people living with Alzheimer's and dementia —
I understand what they need better than anyone. I'd say better than anyone in the country, honestly.
That's what makes S.B. Taylor different. We're not just movers. We're caregivers who happen to move your stuff.
We Speak Your Language
Here's something most moving companies don't even think about: the pace of communication matters.
When you're working with seniors, you can't rush through explanations. You can't talk fast, throw around confusing jargon, or overwhelm someone with too much information at once. After two decades in healthcare, I learned to speak clearly, slowly, and with patience — making sure people actually understood what was happening and felt comfortable asking questions.
Our entire team communicates the same way. Whether we're explaining the estimate process to you, walking through the plan with your mom, or letting your dad know exactly what's happening on move day — we're calm, clear, and never rushing.
Feeling rushed and confused is the last thing anyone needs during an already overwhelming time.
Our Process — Simple and Stress-Free
We designed our process to be as easy as possible:
- You Reach Out Submit a request through our website or give us a call. We'll have a real conversation — not a sales pitch. We want to understand where you're at, where your loved one is at, and what this move actually looks like for your family.
- Easy Video Walkthrough We send you a simple video link — no apps to download, no software to install. Just click the link on your phone or tablet, it opens your camera, you walk through the space, and show us what needs to move. When you're done, it closes and sends the video directly to us. That's it. Case by case, we can come in person, but most families find the video walkthrough is more than enough to get an accurate estimate without the hassle of scheduling.
- We Create Your Custom Plan Based on our conversation and the video, we put together a detailed moving plan that accounts for your loved one's needs — physical, emotional, and logistical. We go over everything clearly, answer all your questions, and make sure you feel confident about what's ahead.
- Packing with Purpose We don't just throw things in boxes. We label everything clearly — not just 'Kitchen' but 'Mom's favorite coffee cups - left of sink, top shelf.' This means the new space gets set up exactly how your loved one is used to. Familiar placement matters, especially for seniors.
- Move Day — On Your Schedule We arrive on time and work at a pace that keeps your loved one comfortable. If they need breaks, we take breaks. If they want to tell us about the chair that belonged to their mother, we listen. We never rush.
- Setting Up Home We don't drop boxes and leave. We unpack, arrange furniture, hang pictures, make the bed, and set things up so your loved one walks into a space that feels like home — not a storage unit. When we leave, they're settled.

What Families Say
"So glad we chose S.B. Taylor Transport to help us move my mom from the home she lived in for over 60 years. They took the time to make sure my mother felt seen and heard. After Steve carried the last of her furniture into her new apartment, my mother gave him a big hug."
— A grateful daughter
"You were the only movers who made my mom feel safe. That means more than you know."
