Why Working with a Local Moving Company Just Makes Sense
— and What You Need to Know About Hourly Services

At S.B. Taylor Transport, we believe in the power of community, quality service, and transparency. As a locally owned and operated business, we’ve built our reputation on trust, reliability, and treating every customer like a neighbor—because in most cases, you are one.

But we also believe it’s important to help customers understand how our services work and how that benefits you. So let’s break it down:

🏡 The Local Advantage

When you choose a local business, you're not just buying a service—you’re investing in your own community. You’re helping support local jobs, local families, and a team that takes pride in serving the place we all call home.

Local businesses like ours are also more flexible, more responsive, and more invested in your satisfaction. We don’t have a corporate chain of command. What we do have is heart, hustle, and a passion for making every move smooth, safe, and successful.

⏱️ Why We Charge by the Hour

We perform most of our services on an hourly basis—whether you're moving across the street or across town. Why? Because every move is different. Charging hourly allows us to:

  • Adapt to real-time challenges (e.g. stairs, long walks, tight turns)

  • Be transparent and fair—no inflated “flat rate” surprises

  • Let you be in control of how much time and labor is needed

Think of it like shopping at Walmart: the more you put in your cart, the more you pay at checkout. Moving is similar—if you add more stops, more stairs, or more items on moving day than initially estimated, the cost will naturally adjust to match.

đź’ˇ Honesty Helps Us Help You

When we give an estimate, we do our best to base it on the details you provide—how much stuff you have, how far you’re going, and any special conditions. We want to be accurate and fair.

The more transparent and honest you are about what needs to be done, the better we can prepare. If you forget to mention the attic full of boxes, the extra furniture at a family member’s house, or a surprise storage unit—your move may take longer than expected.

🧠 For example:
If your estimate was based on a 2-bedroom apartment, but on move day we discover a full garage, a basement, and a second drop-off location—we're now working with a different-sized job than expected. We’ll still show up and give it our all—but that added time and effort will reflect in the final total.

Not sure how much you really have? Ask! We’re happy to walk through it with you before move day to make sure you’re comfortable with the plan.

âś… We Do Our Best to Stick to the Plan

Our goal is always to come in as close to our original estimate as possible. We staff each job with trained, professional movers and bring the equipment to handle your items safely and efficiently. We hustle, we communicate, and we do it right. But ultimately, moving is a team effort—and that starts with planning and clear expectations.

đź‘‹ Local, Honest, Dependable

Choosing a big-name van line may come with a brand name—but choosing a local business like S.B. Taylor Transport comes with real people, real accountability, and real heart.

If you're looking for licensed, insured, and community-rooted professionals who are "Taylor'd to You," we’d love to help you with your next move.
